IEA Energy Policy Review for Belgium – update 2022
Yesterday, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released its Energy Policy Review for Belgium. The report highlights the significant efforts which have been taken over the past years, resulting in nice numbers.
💨 Belgium has the 6th highest offshore wind capacity worldwide
🍃 The share of renewable energy has increased from 6% to 12%
But the report also highlights that we face significant challenges ahead.
🛢️ 71% of all energy is still coming from fossil fuels, with industry and transport being the largest consumers.
⚡️ Electrification is hampered by the current tariff structures, with high costs for electricity consumption and low costs for gas and oil.
At ENTRAS we help shape the energy transition by solving complex industrial energy questions. That is why Frank Alaerts and Jeroen Vanfraechem founded the company and gave it its current name: ENergy TRAnsition Services!
